Classnotes: 4th May 2007: Command words etc

THis is the first of our revision sessions.

Today we looked at command words - you can download the powerpoint with all the information we looked at from here and clicking on GCSE revision.

Then we looked at a squatter settlement in India. A few years ago I made up a question for this, and that's what we did in the second part of the double lesson. Homework is to finish it off, and revise ready for next week. You can find out what the work is going to be up until you go on study leave by going to the file sharing site here and clicking on GCSE revision.

Don't forget there is the after school revision session on Thursdays 3.30pm to 4pm (see last post below).

Happy revising

Revise the zones of the city using your green books which MUST come back on Friday.

You will have an exam paper to complete which will need you to know definitions etc. but NOT case studies.

Homework: 2nd February

You have to do a worksheet on the work of Shelter, a UK organisation helping people who can't afford accommodation to find somewhere to live. You might like to have a look at Shelter's website. Especially important for people of your age will be their section on leaving home - whether as a student or as a young person in general.

The sheet has everything you need - answer on the sheet.

This homework is due in on Wednesday 7th February.

Homework: 26th Jan 2007: Geographical Models

Remember that homework should be done (and stuck in) to your orange homework books.

This week you have a relatively short piece of homework. It is a worksheet based on what we did in class about geographical models. You will need to THINK about some parts of it - you can work out all the answers. If you missed the lesson you can of course look below for information and useful links.

It is due in on Friday (sorry an earlier version of this page said Wednesday - it is actually Friday when we have a lesson!).

See Mr B ASAP if you have any problems.

Homework: 15th December

There is no homework today as you have plenty of revision to be getting on with before the January exams.
In January you will sit two Geography mock exams. Although these don't count towards your final grade, you do need to take them seriously especially if you are in the balance between higher and foundation tiers.
Have a Happy Christmas - see you in the New Year!

Homework - 8th December

This homework is due on WEDNESDAY 13TH DECEMBER in the lesson.

There are two pieces this week.
FIRST - a simple question sheet about flooding on the Nile and flood hydrographs. This should take you no more than 15 minutes.

SECOND - A past exam question from 1999. Everyone has the higher tier question to do here. Remember in the exam you will have about 25-30 minutes for each question. If you do it within that time - great. But feel free to go on a bit longer to practice getting every mark. The map you need can be found in colour above.

Homework - 1st December

You have a past exam question for homework this week.
The final question (d) needs you to use the information from class and this blog to discuss the ways in which MEDCs (the USA) and LEDCs (Lesotho) get their water and how they use it.
Due: Friday 8th December.
Help available from Mr Burdett in H3 on Wednesday lunchtime.
